| Little
Rhody Machine and Electric Co. Inc. was started in 1963 in the
historical Anthony Mill Complex on Washington Street in Coventry,
RI. George Hostetler,
president/owner, put his talents to work and created a company that
serviced many companies and their maintenance headaches. Our company continued to prosper for 21 years
becoming a legacy as one of Coventry’s long time businesses,
sponsoring Little Leagues, Local Race Car enthusiasts, Golf Leagues
and more. Several news articles were written about the company over
the years. It’s focus
then, and still, is to offer a complete maintenance, repair, and
fabrication package to industrial and manufacturing companies. |

|
| In 1984, George’s daughter, Anita Weikman,
purchased and continued to operate the business, succeeding in
employing expert mechanics, welders and machinists, accomplishing
many customer maintenance nightmares. The name was changed to
Little Rhody Machine Repair Inc. to better explain the actual
business activities. Her
husband, Ed, completed 23 years in the Navy, as a Construction
Equipment Mechanic, and joined her in running the business,
helping to service the acquired State and Federal contract
business. In 2005,
the company moved to their new “owned” home at 7 Alice Street
in Coventry, RI. |
|
| Chad Weikman, their son, is now running the
show. He has brought
fresh ideas to the company’s operation, advertising, purchasing
new machines, acquiring new customers and adding his own skills of
computer-generated, state-of-the-art drawings of customer desired
fabrications. His
wife, Becky, has joined this family venture and is the friendly
voice you’ll hear when you call.
She makes the office function! |

|
| Oh, you’ll still run into, George, now in
his 80’s, and Anita and Ed, now part timers, when you visit the
site. This family
business still continues to satisfy its industrial and
manufacturing company’s maintenance problems. |
